It seems the older I get, the more I grow to dislike dogs. I didn't mind them at all when I was younger; in fact, even though my family did not own a dog as a pet, we did take care of a basset hound for an extended period of time, and I must have enjoyed having the dog around based on the pictures that were taken of the two of us. But now? I would never consider having a dog as a pet and am constantly annoyed by them.
It seems like dogs are always barking, but their owners are always telling them to shut up. They have to be walked whenever they need to go to the bathroom. People in the neighborhood that I live in have dogs that aren't in fenced in areas or tied up and they roam around freely, barking at cars and people in passing and randomly leaving deposits of poop on other people's lawns. You have to bathe dogs regularly, while cats clean themselves fairly well. It seems like all of my friends own dogs, and they are always jumping on me or into my lap when I am at their houses.
Cats aren't perfect, but I sure prefer them over dogs, any day.
